Steven Dimech started his apprenticeship as a motor mechanic at the age of 15 in 1991. He was fully qualified at the age of 19, then went on to work as a rotary motor mechanic for the next 12 years. In this time has gained extensive experience in building hundreds of rotary engines.

In March 2008, together with wife Sylvia, started a rotary performance workshop creating ‘SDR MOTORSPORT’, which specializes in all fabrication done in house. – exhaust manifolds, intercooler pipes, exhaust systems, gear box tunnels, mini tubing, wheelie bars, chrome molly roll cages and much more. Services in engine building from standard rebuilds to complete race engines 12A, 13B, 20B and 26B. Engine dowelling, studding, porting from mild port, bridge port and peripheral port. The workshop is fully equipped with brand new tools and equipment to build top quality street and drag strip race cars.

Steve has a passion for old school mazda’s and drag racing. He has many years experience preparing, racing and advising racers on drag strip over the years. In our first year of business we have produced a lot of cars seen down western sydney international dragway, showing up on a regular basis you will see Steve down on the drag strip supporting his

customers aiming high to achieve their dreams of running fast times down the quarter mile.

In early 2012, Sdr motorsport together with Unigroup engineering installed their own dyno tuning facilities on the premises. All dyno tuning is completed on site by unigroup engineering. Sdr motorsport also recommends products such as Blackbox ecu & Turbosmart products.

In January 2015, Sdr motorsport fabrication was created to facilitate more automotive customization. Specialising in Andra/ IHRA roll cages, custom exhaust manifolds for any make & model, engine conversions and much more.
